Tomorrow sees the start of the La Cala Feria 2014. Everyone, including residents, business owners and tourists alike eagerly await the start of this event, which is often referred to by locals as the‘seafood fair’. To set the scene the Department for Festivities unveiled the poster for the 2014 Fair under the Watch Tower Moons on Friday the 11th July. The poster reflects images of the sixties with a winking sun, the Tower of La Cala and the Costa del Sol in the background. This years poster is for the second time the work of Juan Rodríguez ‘Yuma', and once again his creation has been received with real enthusiasm.
The Feria really is a family fair with a varied program of entertainment for residents and tourists to enjoy including concerts, flamenco and traditional games. As has long been the tradition with most feria's there will of course be the election and coronation of the Feria Queen and King. This year will also see by popular demand the re-introduction of Mr. Ugly with this particular election held at the Tower. There will also be the fishing competition in La Cala, with prizes ranging from 150 to 300 euros.
Add to these events the fair ground, music, great food and lots of traditional dress and the feria is once again poised to entertain the thousands that will attend with it's great atmosphere and attractions.
