The Luna Mora Festival will once again be held in Mijas Pueblo, following the huge success of last year. However because it was SO successful in 2014 they are making a significant change, with the festival being held on two separate weekends - 17th to 19th July and 31st July to 2nd August.
This change will allow many more visitors to attend whilst in the area on holiday during both July and August. Last year they estimated around 20,000 people visited the village for the festival. This year, 2015, they are expecting that number to be in the region of 45,000 over the two weekends!
They only used about 5,000 candles last year, this year they plan on upping that to an amazing 60,000 spread further around the streets of this magical village. Imagine how beautiful it´s going to look at night with that many candles.
And for those of you who had problems parking - fear not the council say they are allotting extra parking areas for the event with plenty of shuttle buses to overcome the problem of last year. Having enjoyed the festival ourselves, I think the problem was that the council just didn´t realise how popular it was going to be and were caught out by the amount of visitors. With last years experience under their belts, that shouldn´t be a problem - we hope!
Put these dates in your diary so you don´t miss this amazing event. 17th to 19th July and 31st July to 2nd August.
